About this collection

coolWave delves into the intricate relationship between order and disorder. It explores the intriguing notion that even seemingly random and arbitrary events or objects in life, when repeated over time, gradually transform into patterns of familiarity and order, becoming somewhat comprehensible to us.

At its core, coolWave investigates how order can emerge from disorder through the power of repetition. It begins with a randomly generated pattern occupying a segment of the 1:1 canvas. This pattern is then then mirrored in a circular fashion until the entire canvas is becomes a coolWave.

The randomly generated portion of the canvas can take on one of six unique 'disorder maps,' each featuring varying levels of detail and sizes for distinct colored zones. Repetition is achieved through the mirroring process, orchestrated by an 'agent' modeled after chess pieces. The mirroring technique is executed based on the movements of these chess pieces:

Rook: Employing two symmetry lines, one vertical and one horizontal, effectively dividing the canvas into four equal squares.

Bishop: Utilizing two symmetry lines, both diagonal, resulting in the canvas being divided into four equal triangles.

Queen: Employing four symmetry lines, a combination of the Bishop and Rook's movements, intricately splitting the canvas into eight equal triangles.
